BARUFFI ANDREA

Andrea Baruffi was born in 1949 in Lizzano in Belvedere, Bologna, where he currently lives and works. After earning a degree in Architecture in Florence in 1975, he moved to the United States and quickly gained significant recognition for his work as a graphic illustrator for major New York newspapers and magazines, gradually achieving international acclaim. He collaborated with the New York Times, Daily News, Newsweek, Time, Business Week, Fortune, and with leading American advertising agencies such as Young & Rubicam, Grey Advertising, Ogilvy & Mather, and J. Walter Thompson. Since 1991, he has been incorporating digital images into his creations, and from 1993 he has devoted himself intensively to painting, participating in numerous contemporary art exhibitions and fairs.

Andrea Baruffi’s pictorial research is inspired by the atmospheres of Edward Hopper, infused with an elegantly ironic and surreal touch that makes his work unmistakable. Among his most significant European artistic contributions are solo exhibitions in Gubbio, Bologna, Rome, and Milan, as well as participations in Artissima in Turin, Artefiera in Bologna, Miart in Milan, and the Museum Parma, alongside other international art fairs.

In recent years, his exhibition activity has intensified, including solo shows at Galleria Il Polittico in Rome (2008 and 2010), Galleria Anna Breda in Padua (2011), Galleria Axelle in Boston and New York (2012), and a solo exhibition at Galleria Forni in Bologna (2012). His most recent solo exhibition took place at Galleria Sabiana Paoli in Singapore.
