LIBRI BIANCHI

Lorenzo and Simona Perrone are the creators of the “LibriBianchi” series. Born in 1944 in Milan and 1958 in Florence, respectively, they live and work in Milan. Lorenzo and Simona collaborate closely on LibriBianchi, a series of sculptures that represents a personal artistic research developed over more than twenty years, exploring the world of books to strongly affirm the book/culture connection as a symbol of civilization.

Lorenzo Perrone studied at Milan’s Scuola del Libro of the Umanitaria and the Painting School of the Castello Sforzesco. After moving to New York, he attended courses in graphics and cinema at the New School and the School of Visual Arts. His professional career unfolded in the fields of graphic design and communication across Milan, London, and New York.

The first book-sculptures appeared in 2000, giving rise to the sculptural cycle LibriBianchi. In 2015, with the collaboration of his wife Simona — specialized in communication, design, and fashion — Perrone expanded his production to include large-scale installations and bronze works.

The book thus becomes both the subject of research and the raw material of their work. Using stoneware, glue, and acrylic paint, the Perrones transform books into sculptures. The book is shaped and elevated to a heightened symbolism, reinforcing the book/culture connection. Covered in white, each book becomes an Archetype, silently shouting to be read in a different way.
