VEERMAN MARISA

Marisa Veerman (1977) is a contemporary Australian artist who lives and works in Brisbane.
Her artistic practice emerges from a poetic fusion of photography and embroidery, born from a reflection on themes such as emotions, childhood, and the preciousness of the human soul. With a professional background in textile visual merchandising, Marisa worked for years with renowned fabric brands. This experience has deeply influenced her artistic language, naturally leading her to merge photography with the textile world.
In her works, Marisa stages carefully constructed scenes with models, costumes, and long exposure times, creating images of melancholic and ethereal beauty. The embroidery and beads embellishing the photographic surface add a tactile and material dimension to the artwork. A light layer of varnish completes the process, binding the various elements into a visual result that lies at the boundary between painting and photography.
Marisa Veerman has exhibited in numerous shows across Australia, the United States, and Denmark, receiving prestigious recognitions and awards, including the Rotary Art Award 2019 for mixed media and the Clayton Utz Art Award 2024.
Arte in Salotto has represented Marisa Veerman exclusively since 2025 and was the first gallery to present her work in Italy.
