L'ORMA IS THE WINNER OF THE VAF AWARD
IX EDITION
11.3.22

Having announced the winners of the 9th edition of the biennial VAF Foundation Art Prize, the jury composed of Volker W. Feierabend, Cesare Biasini Selvaggi, Daniela Ferrari and Elena Pontiggia, reached the unanimous decision to award the Foundation's highest artistic recognition for the year 2022 to L'orMa.

What has been awarded is his reinterpretation of sculptural materials with ironic lightness. Assistant of the artistic couple Vedovamazzei already as a student, the artist created a series of works inspired by the old masters, from Leonardo to Bosch, sculptures and installations composed with herbs and natural elements arranged in geometric and symbolic compositions, necklaces with glass spheres containing sculptures microscopic in plastic materials and his famous paper sculptures.

The artist received a prize of 15.000 euros, in addition to the acquisition of the work in competition by the Foundation, which will become part of the Collection.

Congratulations go to all the artists selected as winners of this 9th edition of the Prize: Luca Azzurro, Renata and Cristina Cosi, Silvia Inselvini, collective KEM, L'orMa, Enrico Minguzzi (third classified), Sebastiano Raimondo, Dario Tironi, Valeria Vaccaro (second classified).

The exhibition with the works of the nine finalists is set up in the Kiel Stadtgalerie from March 11 to May 22, and will subsequently be held at the Castelle Estense in Ferrara. The next edition of the competition will be reserved for artists born between 1984 and 2002.
