MARISA VEERMAN

Marisa Veerman (1977) is a contemporary Australian artist who lives and works in Brisbane.
Her artistic practice stems from a poetic union of photography and embroidery, born from a reflection on themes of emotion, childhood, and the preciousness of the human spirit.
With a professional background in textile visual merchandising, Marisa worked for years with renowned fabric brands. This experience deeply influenced her artistic vision, naturally leading her to merge photography with the textile world.
In her work, Marisa stages a setting with models, costumes, and long exposure times, creating images of melancholic and ethereal beauty. The embroidery and beading that enrich the photographic surface add a tactile, material dimension to the piece. A light layer of varnish completes the process, binding the various elements into a visual result that lies at the threshold between painting and photography.
Marisa Veerman has exhibited in numerous shows across Australia, the United States, and Denmark, receiving awards and notable recognition, including the 2019 Rotary Art Award for mixed media and the 2024 Clayton Utz Art Award.
Arte in Salotto has represented Marisa Veerman exclusively since 2025 and was the first gallery to present her work in Italy.
