TOMMASO OTTIERI, "LA TUA MANO - DIVO JANUARIO DICATUM"
12/15/22 - 03/15/23
TREASURE OF SAN GENNARO, NAPLES

Tommaso Ottieri's exhibition "La mano tua, Divo Januario dicatum" curated by Gallerie Riunite opens on Thursday 15 December 2022 at 18:00 at the San Gennaro Treasure Museum. A tribute to the Patron Saint that the artist thought up for the Treasure of San Gennaro, creating a work that dialogues with the masterpieces of the museum's precious collection. The exhibition will be open until 15 March 2023, during the same opening hours as the museum to the public.

ommaso Ottieri brings his vision as a contemporary artist into a classic museum, thus proposing new experiences of use and soliciting unprecedented perceptions of the precious works kept in the Treasury. “The halls of the museum shine with light and faith. The light of the Saint, of the Faith and of the History of both, together with that of an entire city and an entire people. – explains Tommaso Ottieri – In my work I have always tried to recreate this light on canvas, making it shine with a thousand tricks and with a now millenary method, which has been made available to me through the examples of the Masters and the discoveries of the technique. "

In the wake of this dialogue between past and contemporary history, the exhibition presents nine works (oils on panel) of small, medium and large dimensions. With their baroque cosmogony and the light shaped by gold and incense, Ottieri's paintings dialogue with what is customary to enchant visitors in the exhibition itinerary of the Treasury. Suggestions that have strongly inspired the sensitivity of Tommaso Ottieri who, with his work, continues to tell today the long story of devotion, never interrupted, between all the Neapolitan people and their Saint.
